Your first product shouldn't be ambitious. It should be finished. Here's the 30-day plan.
Week 1: pick something people already ask you for
The best first product answers a question you've answered more than three times in email or DMs. Prompt packs, checklists, and templates beat courses — they're faster to finish and easier to buy.
Week 2: make it
One weekend, one artifact. If it takes longer than two weekends it's a course, and courses are a v2 problem. Format: PDF or Notion template, delivered automatically by Gumroad.
Week 3: page + price
Gumroad's built-in pages are fine. Price at $19–29: high enough to signal quality, low enough to skip the refund deliberation. Add three bullets max — outcomes, not features.
Week 4: first ten sales
1. Post the build process publicly as you go (build-in-public posts) 2. Offer it free to 5 people who promise feedback; screenshot testimonials 3. Answer the question in public places with a genuine answer + link
After launch, the work is distribution: one useful article per week linking naturally to the product. That's exactly the model this site runs.
